01 What this covers

This policy applies to orders placed with Pastry is Art: items bought at the bakery, online orders, custom cakes and desserts, catering and wholesale deliveries.

Because almost everything we sell is fresh food made by hand, and most of it is made specifically for you, our policy is different from a store selling manufactured goods.

02 Custom orders are made for you

Custom cakes, decorated cookies, cupcakes, cake pops and dessert tables are produced for your date, your theme and your guest count. Once we start buying ingredients and building your design, that work cannot be resold to anyone else.

For that reason, custom orders are confirmed when we agree on the design, the date and the price, and they are not cancellable once production has begun.

03 Design approval

Before we start, you review and approve the design of your cake. By approving it you confirm the shape, colors, decoration, flavors, spelling of any message and the date.

Everything we make is hand-made, so the final product may have slight variations from the reference images or the sketch. Those variations are part of the craft and are not grounds for a refund.

04 Deposits and payment

How much is paid when you book depends on how the order reaches you. Either way, the first 50% of the order is a non-refundable deposit that secures your order and holds your date on our production calendar.

  • Pickup orders: the 50% deposit is paid when you book, and the remaining balance when the cake is ready, on the scheduled pickup day.
  • Delivery orders: the order is paid in full when you book.

Failure to pay the balance of a pickup order by the applicable deadline may result in cancellation of the order without refund of the deposit.

05 Changes to your order

Tell us as early as possible. Flavors, colors, message and quantity can usually be adjusted while the design is still in the planning stage.

Close to your date the design is already in production, ingredients are bought and decorations are made by hand, so changes may not be possible or may change the price. Call the bakery to check before assuming a change can be made.

06 Cancellations

If you need to cancel, call us right away at (305) 603‑9340.

  • Cancelled 7 days or more before your event: you may be eligible for a partial refund of what you paid beyond the 50% deposit (for a delivery order, paid in full, that is the other half).
  • Cancelled less than 7 days before your event: the order is not eligible for any refund.

The 50% deposit is non-refundable in every case, because it reserves time in our kitchen for your date. If we ever have to cancel your order on our side, you receive a full refund, including the deposit.

07 Pickup and delivery

Please check your order before you leave the bakery or before the driver leaves. Once the cake has been picked up or delivered and accepted, we are no longer responsible for any damage that occurs.

How to transport and store your cake

  • Transport the cake on a flat surface, never on a seat or on someone’s lap.
  • Fondant cakes: keep in a cool, air-conditioned space, away from direct sunlight and heat.
  • Buttercream cakes: keep refrigerated, and take them out 1–2 hours before serving for the best flavor and texture.

For deliveries, someone must be available to receive the order at the agreed address and time. If nobody is there, the order may be returned to the bakery and a second delivery may be charged.

08 If something is wrong

We want you to be happy with what you receive. If there is a problem with your order, contact us within 24 hours with photos and your order details so we can see what happened.

If the mistake is ours, we will make it right: we will remake the item, issue a credit or refund it, whichever fits the situation. The item may need to be returned so we can review it.

09 What we cannot refund

  • Orders that were consumed, or where most of the product was eaten before telling us.
  • Damage that happened after pickup or after delivery was accepted.
  • Details you approved in the quote, such as spelling, colors or the date.
  • Differences in taste preference, since flavors and sweetness are subjective.
  • Small variations in a hand-made design. Every cake is made by hand and no two are identical.

10 Allergens and food safety

Our cakes and desserts may contain, or come into contact with, common allergens such as dairy, eggs, wheat, soy, nuts and gluten. Our kitchen shares equipment across products, so we cannot guarantee that any item is free of traces of an allergen.

The client accepts full responsibility for informing their guests about potential allergens in the product. Tell us about allergies when you order and we will tell you honestly what we can and cannot do.

Our products are fresh and have no preservatives. Follow the storage instructions above; we cannot refund items that were stored or transported incorrectly.

11 Online orders

Online orders are processed by our ordering provider. If you need to change or cancel one, call the bakery directly at (305) 603‑9340 so we can reach it before it is prepared. Refunds on those orders are returned to the same payment method.

12 Catering and wholesale

Catering orders, dessert tables and wholesale accounts follow the terms in their own proposal or agreement, including lead times, minimums and cancellation windows. Where those terms differ from this page, the signed proposal governs.
